Hi! I'm Eva -
Yoga has been a long love affair for me and I am excited to share this love with you. I was born in Bavaria, got carried away and ended up in NY where I stumbled into my first Yoga class in 2006. As a career driven New Yorker it took me a while to allow Yoga to really get to me, slowing me down, grounding me and allowing me to be vulnerable. I have been practicing Yoga regularly since then - first mainly on the mat because it made me feel good, but slowly it began to impact my life off the mat as well. I was doing a lot of Karma Yoga, working shifts in Studios to be able to attend classes in exchange.
I practiced with different teachers in lots of different studios in NY.
Moving to Berlin in 2014 made me feel quite lost, Yoga helped me through that transitional time. I honestly think, without my Yoga practice I would have 'given up' on Berlin and would have left for NY again. I met Victoria Larsson of Swanmountainyoga during that time and became one of her many students. Searching for more I started meditating and attended my first Vipassana course in 2016. I still can’t kick a lot of my habits but Yoga ( and Meditation ) made me the best version of myself that I can be in this very moment. Yoga taught me to be gentle and nice to myself, to silence my critical mind that is constantly judging and to allow myself to try and fail.
In 2017 I decided to take a break from being a photographer and take a trip to Thailand to get certified (RYT 200 hrs). I have been teaching Yoga since then. Beginning of 2018 I did a mentorship program with Victoria and started teaching under Swanmountain Yoga.
My classes are fun, challenging and cut through the bullshit. I am still on the never ending journey to discovering my spirituality without being fake.
so expect to get my authentic self, when you practice with me, far from perfect but human and flawed instead. One of my biggest concerns when I became a Yoga teacher was losing my edge. I have since learned that you can still be a (bad ass) teacher and then dance your ass off in a Berlin club.
my approach to Yoga: Don’t take yourself too seriously, be adventurous and open, have fun. My classes emphasize play between stability and lightness and build strength both physically and mentally. Leave your Ego at home, try and fail. Shed some sweat, followed by deep release at the end.
I am teaching under VEA YOGA and am part of Swanmountain Yoga since 2018
